In a small house on a bit hill in Connemara, County Galway Maureen and Mag Folan live out an uneasy truce. That is until an old family friend reappears. Maureen lives a lonely life, with only her ancient mother Mag for company, tending to her every need, putting up with years of insults (and doling out a few of her own).
When a chance comes along to find love and make a new life for herself Maureen sees
an opportunity to escape. Mag has other ideas though, and her interference sets in
motion a chain of misunderstandings , heart-
