Enigmatic, contained woman, neat and non-committal in dress.


A Little Lady, 2nd applicant :  40’s (Small part)

Bird like, anxious, nervous type.


3rd Lady, 3rd applicant  40’s (Small part)

A rather comic character.


Nurse : 30’s or 40’s (Small part)

Efficient


Maitland, the manservant  35 – 55 years

Very much in charge, a mothering type.


Laurel :16 – 20 years

Confident, wilful.


Mrs. St. Maugham, Laurel’s grandmother – Late 60’s

Overpowering, once beautiful, ex-hostess of London Society.


Olivia, Laurel’s mother

Flighty, a disappointment to her mother.
