Bonnie & Clyde

February 19th - 22nd 2025

The Sinden Theatre

Once I’d listened to Don Black and Frank Wildhorn’s score, I really wanted to direct ‘Bonnie & Clyde’. With its wide range of musical genres beautifully interwoven, it sympathetically moves the story along. Ivan Menchell’s tale focuses on the relationships between Bonnie, Clyde, Blanche, and Buck. It’s a love story set against the Great Depression of 1929, a period marked by worldwide economic disintegration, where a whole generation lived hand to mouth. Out of this hardship, a surfeit of lawbreakers emerged, romanticised by Hollywood and some of the general population, giving rise to the urban myths of the likes of Bonnie & Clyde, Dillinger, Al Capone, and Baby Face Nelson—figures many of us are still familiar with in 2025.
I thank this extremely talented cast who have skillfully brought this production to life with their amazing acting and singing. Combined with the fantastic musical direction of Ruth Roberts and all the Back of House team, without whom this show would not be in front of you. A special thanks to Natalie for assisting me in this wonderful adventure
