Sinden Theatre, Tenterden
Chicago Summary Nightclub sensation Velma Kelly murders her philandering husband, and Chicago’s slickest lawyer, Billy Flynn, is set to defend her. But when Roxie Hart also winds up in prison for killing her lover, after she failed to get her poor sap of a husband to take the wrap. Billy takes on her case as well turning her into a media circus of headlines. Neither woman will be outdone in their fight against each other and the public for fame and celebrity. Cynical, business orientated Billy wins, yet another case adding to his star quality leaving the woman to pick up their lives.
Director – Jack Davidson
Co-Director – Louisa Nelson Chambers
MD – Ian Harby
Choreographer – Jack Davidson
The directors, Jack and Louisa, wanted something new and decided to have an all female dance and singing ensemble. They also experimented by having understudies for both Velma and Roxy, who had a dedicated matinee performance with which to shine. It was a fantastic experience and gave the audience members who attended the show multiple times a unique experience of seeing the individuality of performance from each of our talented performers.
Above, Victoria Jones (L) and Victoria Tinkler (R) played Velma Kelly. When Vicky Tinkler wasn’t playing Velma for 4 of the performances, she performed as a member of the all female dance and singing ensemble.
Top, Natalie Heath and Charlotte Maughan-Jones (Bottom) played Roxy Hart. When Charlotte wasn’t playing Roxy for 4 of the performances, she performed as a member of the all female dance and singing ensemble.
