Road 2011 by Jim Cartwright
Thur 12th to 14th May 2011
Tenterden Town Hall
Scullery, our narrotor like ‘Host’ introduces us to some of the residents of Road, and allows us a glimpse into their lives at a time when the future looked both futile and dark. The play is set in the mid 1980’s when the north of the UK was taking the brunt of the mine closures and futures generally looked bleak with little prospect of the regeneration that has since taken place.
Although circumstances are different as they people who have been affected, the play has current topicality as you glimpse into the lives of people who have been dramatically affected by the economic and political climate.
Set in a small Lancashire Town the action takes plae over the course of one evening. This play was directed by Ian Rutter.
