Ladies’ Day 2024

Ladies’ Day is set in 2005. It was the year that Ascot Racecourse closed for redevelopment, and the Royal Meeting was staged at York instead.

The play is of its time – Katie Price was better known as Jordan, Posh and Becks (Victoria and David Beckham) were new celebrities, Freddie Starr would have been familiar to some then as the comedian and impressionist who had allegedly eaten a friend’s hamster! Then there was Trisha, a tabloid talk show host. The egos and misogyny of television presenters were given free reign.

Thankfully falling in love hasn’t changed!
